DustGard - Magnesium Chloride Dust Suppressant & Road Base Stabilizer
North American Salt's DustGard® product is used for both dust and erosion control. The hygroscopic (attracts moisture) characteristics gives it the ability to maintain natural surfaces for months at a time with a single application.

What is DustGard?
DustGard is
designed for deep soil penetration to create compact, smooth road surfaces. DustGard is used on unimproved roads for surface stability and dust control.
DustGard is
an environmentally-friendly dust control and soil stabilization product. DustGard is used in environmentally sensitive areas such as U.S. National Forest roads.
DustGard is
hygroscopic (attracts moisture) to provide maximum control of dust.
DustGard is
liquid magnesium chloride produced from naturally-occurring minerals in the Great Salt Lake.
Lower Your Costs With DustGard
. Reduces the need for blading, watering and gravel replacement.
. Reduces vehicle maintenance costs by lowering the levels of dust that clog filters, bearings, and machinery.
. Provides a smooth, firm driving surface which increases vehicle productivity, decreases fuel consumption, and saves time.
. Prevents costly soil erosion caused by destructive wind conditions.
. Reduces the cost of cleaning vehicles, equipment, property, vegetation, and living sites.

Comparing Magnesium Chloride and Calcium Chloride Solutions
Magnesium chloride and calcium chloride solutions cannot be compared at equivalent solution percentages due to the fact the materials have different molecular weights. An extreme analogy would be comparing one ton of lead to one ton of feathers. One ton of feathers will cover a much larger area and contain more volume. The same holds true with mag-nesium chloride and calcium chloride.

Comparing the weights of the two compounds shows that calcium chloride weighs 16.6% more than magnesium chloride. Therefore, if you have identical percentages by weight of the two solutions, then there is 16.6% more magnesium chloride in solution by volume than calcium chloride. The following table shows equivalent solutions by weight between magnesium chloride and calcium chloride.
